President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Secures Landslide Victory in APC Presidential Primary

ABUJA, NIGERIA —

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged victorious in the presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress, securing a commanding mandate in what party officials described as one of the most decisive internal elections in recent years.

The result, announced by the Chairman of the APC Presidential Election Committee, Anyim Pius Anyim, confirmed that President Tinubu polled 10,999,162 votes, while his sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, recorded 16,503 votes.

The announcement took place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, before a gathering of party leaders, governors, lawmakers, ministers, and members of the APC National Working Committee.

Following his victory, President Tinubu received the party’s certificate of return and the APC flag from the party chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, officially confirming his candidacy for the forthcoming presidential election.

In his acceptance remarks, President Tinubu expressed gratitude to party members and pledged to consolidate ongoing economic reforms while deepening national development efforts.

He outlined priorities including industrialisation, energy security, infrastructure expansion, food sufficiency, and strengthened democratic governance, noting that his administration remains committed to long-term national transformation.

The APC Presidential Election Committee stated that the voting process was conducted across the country’s 8,809 wards, with results showing overwhelming dominance for the incumbent president across nearly all states of the federation.

Breakdown figures indicated strong support across key regions, including Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Imo, Rivers, and other strategic political zones, reflecting widespread mobilisation within the party structure.

President Tinubu also highlighted key achievements of his administration, including fiscal reforms, improved revenue collection, and the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which he said has disbursed over ₦282 billion to more than 1.5 million beneficiaries.

The victory further positions President Tinubu as the flagbearer of the APC heading into the next general election cycle, reinforcing his influence within the party and national political landscape.

Political analysts say the result reflects strong internal party consolidation, though attention is expected to shift toward national sentiment as the broader electoral season approaches
